Baklavastory., founded by Tolgay Karabulut, is a San Francisco based baklava shop that prides itself on authenticity and quality. Karabulut, born and raised in Turkey, immigrated to the United States in 2009 and was disappointed by the lack of authentic baklava available. Determined to change this, he founded Baklavastory. in San Francisco's Mission District. 

Prior to opening his baklava brick & mortar, Karabulut spent four years traveling across the Middle East, Turkey, and Greece to learn from the best chefs and to find the best ingredients. He believes that it all comes down to quality ingredients–and is happily willing to go anywhere in the world to find them. From his Turkish sourced ghee butter, milked from sheep two weeks after they've eaten the first spring grasses, to his Turkish sourced flour and wheat starch used to make the 40 layers of filo in each batch puffy, Karabulut's passion for crafting the freshest, finest baklava is evident in every bite. Baklavastory. also supports local farming communities, sourcing fresh eggs from Petaluma and California-grown walnuts and almonds.
