Life is busy. Whether you work from home, commute to the office, go to school, or just have a full plate on your hands, too often it can be hard to eat enough to keep your energies high and to keep you feeling full and focused. You may not realize, though, that there are a number of different ways you can enjoy a good snack to keep you pushing through the day, many of which only require three ingredients or less to create! Today, we wanted to provide you with some different foods that you can eat when you may be running low on time and to help you know what to pick up on your next grocery run.

The Importance of Snacking

Snacking has had a bit of a bad rap lately, but there is some research to prove that it actually may be a great thing to implement into your daily diet. According to Harvard, research has shown that snacking (healthily of course) can help to provide a boost of energy and keep glucose levels from dropping (leading to low blood sugar and typically that lightheaded feeling). Additionally, it has been found that snacking in between larger meals may help to prevent overeating and can also help provide extra nutrients that you may not be consuming, such as vitamins and minerals from nuts and fruits. 

On the flip side though, over-snacking can also have some drawbacks as well. Eating higher-processed foods like chips and cookies can lead to unnecessary calories being added to your diet and therefore may lead to unintentional weight gain. You may also find that eating too much during snack time may lead you to skip your next bigger meal, also leading to the loss of important nutrients you would’ve consumed otherwise. Don’t let this discourage you - keeping a balanced diet of some unhealthier treats paired with healthier ones can help you stay on track to staying full without having to worry about losing the progress you’ve made for your health and well-being.

3 Ingredient Snacks You Should Try

3 ingredient chocolate chip cookie balls

These delicious sweet treats are a perfect way to enjoy a mini dessert at any time of the day. All you need for this recipe are ripe bananas, peanut butter, and oats (with an optional addition of chocolate chips for that extra bit of sweetness!).

Sweet potato chips

This sweet potato chip recipe is a great way to enjoy a salty snack without having to worry about consuming a ton of calories! For this recipe, all you will need is one large, thinly-sliced sweet potato, some olive oil, and some salt! Lay the sweet potato slices on a baking sheet and sprinkle the olive oil and salt over them, and then bake for about 30 minutes!

Cheesy 3 ingredients cheddar broccoli egg muffins

This cheesy cheddar snack is a great quick and savory option for your breakfast or an addition to your afterschool or work meal! All you need for this recipe is eggs, broccoli, and cheddar cheese, with sea salt and pepper to taste. Using silicone muffin liners lined on a baking tray, mix the eggs, broccoli, sea salt, and pepper together in a separate bowl and place them within the liners. Before baking, add cheese to the top of each mini muffin and then bake in the oven for about 15 minutes!

3 ingredient parmesan cookies

Another wonderful three-ingredient snack you can easily enjoy throughout the day is these parmesan cookies! Made from just all-purpose flour, cold butter, and parmesan cheese, this recipe is easy to follow and only takes less than one hour to make! You can add additional spices or other herbs to help add extra flavor if you feel you need them, like chili flakes, thyme, or oregano! 

3 ingredient chocolate and peanut butter fudge

Last but certainly not least, this sweet recipe is a perfect way to finish off the day with a nice snack! This fudge recipe is easy to make and only requires three ingredients - semi-sweet chocolate chips, condensed milk, and peanut butter! It’s a wonderful way to add some sweetness to your day after a long day of work or school and takes very little preparation time.
