Bernal Bakery is a unique and delicious addition to the San Francisco food scene specializing in sourdough goodies. Newly engaged owners and chefs Ryan Stagg and Daniella Banchero lost their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic and found themselves collecting unemployment. With the high cost of rent in the city, they knew they needed to come up with a plan fast. That's when they decided to start baking for their neighbors as a way to keep busy and make a little extra money.

However, as word spread about their delicious baked goods, the community almost instantly adopted them and their business began to grow. From small beginnings of just a few loaves of sourdough, Bernal Bakery now offers a wide range of treats, from their famous country loaves to soft and gooey brown butter chocolate chip cookies and sourdough cinnamon rolls. Thanks to the support of the community, Bernal Bakery has turned into a full-time business and can now be found at cafes, farmers markets, and pop-ups around the city.

Devoto Gardens & Orchards is a family-owned farm located in Sebastopol, California. Founded in 1976 by Susan and Stan Devoto, the farm began with a small plot of land and a passion for micro greens. Over the years, the Devotos have grown their farm to include over 80 varieties of heirloom apples, specialty cut flowers, and Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes on five different properties throughout the county.

One of the key philosophies at Devoto Gardens & Orchards is sustainability and health. The farm is certified organic and the Devotos grow their products without the use of synthetic pesticides, fungicides or herbicides. They prioritize the health and well-being of their employees, family, and farm by maintaining soil fertility with cover crops and spent mulches, compost and pelleted manure products.

In addition to the wide variety of apples grown at Devoto Gardens & Orchards, the farm also specializes in beautiful field-grown flowers. From early spring until late fall, the farm is in full bloom and the Devotos take great pride in the natural beauty of their flowers. They also prioritize environmental sustainability by irrigating their flower crops with tertiary-treated recycled water.

Erin was a woman possessed by the idea of finding the perfect cookie recipe. Using her willing kids as her own personal focus group, she searched high and low for the superior balance of salt, flour, sugar, chocolate, and eggs. She tried batch after batch, sending them off to school with her boys daily, learning the magic of batching and freezing to make it easier on her mornings. Simultaneously, she was raising money for a Pediatric Cancer Research Grant to help three families in her community all impacted by the same rare disease. She didn’t think she'd found a business to keep the fundraising going, but, as the initial fundraising program came to a close, Erin’s cookie recipe was nearly perfected. Left wanting to do more fundraising and finally happy with the cookie recipe, Erin and long-time friend Cameron saw an opportunity. Drops of Dough was born.

The saga of the Clément Faugier Establishment, or how two families intertwined their history with that of the chestnut in Ardèche.

It was in 1882, at a time when the local economy in Ardèche, focused on silk farming, was going through a crisis due to an epidemic, that Clément Faugier, a young man from the region, founded the first Marrons Glacés (candied chestnuts) factory in Privas. He combined tradition in gastronomy with innovation and audacity, pioneering the industrial production of Marron Glacés while preserving the qualities of artisanal craftsmanship.

The story of the Clément Faugier Establishment became inseparable from that of the chestnut. The transfer of knowledge was continued by the children, especially Charles Faugier, a "master confectioner," whose son, Jean, joined forces with the Boiron family, the main chestnut supplier. Since 1970, Claude Boiron and today his son Jean-David Boiron have led the company, preserving the tradition established by Clément Faugier.

By thus linking the two ends of the chain, from chestnut to high-quality candied chestnuts, with a production process that respects tradition, the Clément Faugier Establishment now tells a story of passion and perseverance, where the convergence of two professional practices and personal destinies harmoniously come together.

Blue House Farm (Certified Organic) is a 50 acre slice of paradise located in Pescadero, California. Founded in 2005 by life-long friends Ryan Casey and Ned Conwell, the farm specializes in growing certified organic produce and cut flowers for the Bay Area. The farm is home to an incredible diversity of vegetables, fruits, and flowers, grown on over 70 acres in Pescadero and San Gregorio.

Ryan Casey, a San Diego native, became interested in farming while taking agriculture courses at UC Santa Cruz. After completing an internship with the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems, he decided to start an organic farm with his friend Ned Conwell. In 2005, the Peninsula Open Space Trust awarded them a lease on four acres in Pescadero, and Blue House Farm has since grown to over 50 acres.

Operation in two different microclimates allows Blue House Farm to grow a wide variety of certified organic products. Cool-weather crops thrive in the foggy weather on the San Gregorio property, while heat-loving crops thrive in the Pescadero ranch’s sunny climate. Sierra Nevada Cheese Company is a Northern California-based producer of natural, grass-fed, and organic cow and goat dairy products. Owned by Ben Gregersen and John Dundon, the company was founded in 1997 when the two met while working for Ben’s father at Foothill Home Dairy. Ben studied cheesemaking in Denmark and Canada, while John began in the dairy industry while in high school, working for a local Mt. Shasta Creamery.

The company began by making cheeses using traditional methods with the highest quality, rBSt-free milk available to sell at local farmers markets and natural foods stores. Demand grew quickly and Sierra Nevada relocated to Willows in Glenn County, a rural milkshed in the heart of Northern California. The company was formerly Glenn Milk Producers, built in 1958 by a local collaborative of farmers producing butter and milk powder. Ben and John purchased the vacant creamery in 2003 and have been renovating ever since. Despite being around for only two decades, Sierra Nevada Cheese Company's roots run deep in the rich dairy tradition of Northern California.

The name Llano Seco, Spanish for 'dry plain', is a nod to the dry land wheat fields that have been a historical source of pride for the Rancho's farmers since its inception. The Rancho is bookended by the Sacramento River and Chico Creek, and is defined by the relationship between water and land.

The Wintu, Maidu, and Yana tribes were the original caretakers of the Sacramento River Valley, sustaining themselves with their skills as fishermen, hunters, and foragers. 1lb. Freshly harvested and California-grown with a rich, nutty flavor. Native to the Americas, wild rice has too long been stuck on the holiday table or teamed with salmon and little else. Wild rice is not a true "rice" but an "aquatic seed." It has a chewy texture and distinct nutty flavor. It goes with beans or sauteed vegetables and while it may take awhile to cook (about an hour), the results are delicious.
