Laura Chenel is a renowned cheese manufacturer who started a new chapter in American goat cheese through her commitment to care, quality, and community. In 1979, she began crafting her own farmstead goat cheese using techniques she learned in France and milk from her own goats. This dedication to quality and taste quickly made her synonymous with delicious, artisanal goat cheese. After spending 10 years working and studying in Europe, New York, and the San Francisco Bay Area, Laura returned home to Sonoma County and decided to buy her first goats. As her herd continued to grow, she felt responsible for the milk and wanted to transform it into something that would pay tribute to its makers, leading her to the art of cheese-making. 

Today, her state-of-the-art creamery located in the heart of Sonoma County continues to uphold the traditions she started four decades ago and is the first creamery awarded LEED Gold certification in the U.S. Her commitment to sustainable practices, including solar energy and water recycling, helps preserve the terroir for future generations.
