Fat Gold is an independent, small-batch olive oil producer based in the San Francisco Bay Area that is on a mission to de-commodify extra virgin olive oil and elevate its place in American food culture. The company sources some of California's best, most interesting olives by collaborating with other growers and applying the same level of care to their communication as they do to their olive oil's production and properties. They want to straightforwardly introduce their customers to the nuances of olive oil, which can be as varied and interesting as wine, beer, or chocolate. The company's majority owner, Kathryn Tomajan, is an olive oil maker, taster, and educator who has earned a master's degree in food culture from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy, and serves on the California Olive Oil Council Sensory Panel. All of Fat Gold’s oils are certified extra virgin by the California Olive Oil Council and proudly display the COOC seal.
