Estrellita's Snacks is a family owned & operated Salvadoran food company specializing in authentic Pupusas, Tamales, and Tostadas. Born in San Francisco's Mission District, it all began when Founder Maria del Carmen first began selling her freshly fried plantain and yucca chips to local business owners and families that longed for the taste and crunch of tostadas from El Salvador. With a background rooted in El Salvador, Maria was raised alongside her mother, selling tostadas, pupusas, and fresh fruit with chili and salt when she was just six years old.

Over the next 30 years, Maria traveled throughout Central America, mastering the local cuisine in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Oaxaca, Mexico, and selling snacks on the street to make a living. When she finally arrived in San Francisco, she continued to do what she'd always done best- making pupusas, tostadas, tamales and aguas frescas- and selling them to eager passerbys. Soon thereafter, Estrellita's Snacks was born. The company's name, Estrellita's, is derived from Estrella (Spanish for ‘star’) and is also the name of Maria's daughter and granddaughter, perfectly reflecting the heavenly taste of these authentic Salvadoran snacks.
