Far West Fungi is a San Francisco Bay Area-based company that has been dedicated to the growing, distribution, and marketing of organic specialty mushrooms for over 35 years. Founded by the Garrone family, who are passionate about edible fungi, the company started out selling mail-order mushroom-growing kits before expanding to grow their own mushrooms at a dozen farmers' markets around The Bay Area. 

Today, Far West Fungi operates an eight-acre farm with 60,000 square feet of indoor growing rooms, offering a wide range of edible and medicinal mushroom varieties. Shiitake mushrooms are their best seller, but they also grow five different types of oyster mushrooms. The Garrones believe that education and communication are key to the success of their specialty mushrooms, and they enjoy engaging with customers to share ideas on how to prepare and enjoy the unique flavors and textures of each type of mushroom.
