In March of 2020, my husband and I moved to Montauk, NY. I enrolled in the Institute of Integrative Nutrition as I waited for the restaurants where I worked (and the world!) to re-open. In May, The Hampton Grocer was born - at the time, a local farm to front door delivery service. I was shopping for families, sourcing from local farmers and artisans. Now you know where the name comes from! Something was missing, a signature item that was also the perfect gift. Immediately, I thought of my mother-in-law's granola (thanks, Janet!). This granola was special, packed with nuts and seeds, and just sweet enough. In the beginning, I made just nine jars at a time! We may have a few more flavors, and our batches might be a little bigger, but it's all baked with lots of love. xx Sam.

I created Paro because I will always want to eat my ami’s food and Pakistani food more than anything else. When I left home for college and then to New York to start my career, my mom would send me little ziplock bags with her own special lentil and spice mix. All I had to do was add water, cook for 30 minutes, and I had my mom’s food–my comfort food.

Later I started making my own lentil and spice mixes for parties, or when I had a friend over for dinner. There’s just something about Pakistani flavors that go perfectly with good company, dinner gossip, and a lot of laughing.

With Paro (the brand), I’ve packaged these personal recipes for classic South Asian dishes so you can cook them at home and share with your friends and family. Because comfort food is meant to be shared.

We are sea salt farmers. We make solar evaporated, mineral rich sea salt in the most beautiful place on earth: San Juan Island Washington. We also make killer seasonings that your customers will love. Our best selling products are our Natural Sea Salt, our Popcorn Blend and our Madrona Smoked Sea Salt. In fact we sell more of our Popcorn Blend than the next 3 products combined and my kids are addicted to it! My name is Brady Ryan and our business began with a formative experience: when I was in college I made sea salt for Christmas gifts with my friends by boiling seawater on my parents stove. It took forever, made a huge mess and wasted tons of electricity. But seeing those crystals form hooked me! Fast forward to 2012 and I had been working on a vegetable farm outside of Seattle, and that memory drifted back to me. I figured I might be able to use my skills at building greenhouses to make salt a better way! My now wife, Leah, heard me discussing this idea and not long after shared a food network video she saw about a business doing just that. I was in an impulsive mood and decided to try it out myself! We built our first evaporation house in August of that year and made our first batch of sea salt. In December we took some jars to a farmers market and made $700 on our first day. We were stoked! Fast forward to now and we currently have 14 evaporation houses, producing around 20,000 lbs of solar evaporated sea salt a year. We are having a blast!

Two friends from Boston, David Ashin and Kevin Baryza , who cooked around town in such kitchens as Acquerello, Farallon, Globe, Brunos, Fish and Blue Plate, missed the pizza from their childhood, so they decided to make their own.

They worked at a pizzeria together in high school and moved to California together at the age of 18 to attend culinary school. The chef/owners, who both live nearby, opened The Pizza Place on Noriega because they wanted to serve their community and make it a gathering place for all.

Kevin’s wife, Cindy, part owner, who manages the restaurant and keeps the business running, previously worked at such spots as Stars, Vertigo, Farallon, Jardiniere, The Slanted Door and Garibaldis. The team collectively brings about 60 years of experience to the table.

Rinds of kankitsu are delicately peeled, and candied using traditional methods to enjoy the harmony of sweet and tart. The peels are well-coated with beet sugar and dried completely—in results, the candied peels are not sticky and the sugar does not fall off. They can be enjoyed as is, toppings for yogurts and ice cream, garnish for your favorite drinks, key ingredient for desserts and pastries, coat them with chocolate, and so many other possibilities. Yuzu is a very tart citrus that is less acidic than other members in its family. Yuzu candied peels exhibit a soothing aroma and a pleasant bitterness.

It is then manually laboured in Santa Catarina’s factory.

The tuna fish is manually laboured, as well as the peeling and preparation of all of the ingredients for the tuna paste, as well as filling the containers and labelling them.

All of our tuna pastes are manually laboured, without any kind of emulsifiers, sweeteners, preservatives or any sort of additives or technological aids. Thus, it’s basically a handmade product.

In addition, they removed any communication barrier by creating a 100% accessible workplace using American Sign Language. They know very well that Deaf people are quick learners, and hiring them builds their confidence.

On the food side of the business, Melody and Russ draw inspiration from their respective backgrounds- Melody hails from Hong Kong, and Russ grew up in New York City. As a result, their infusion dishes and pizzas received glowing reviews.

Boichik Bagels is the brainchild of Emily Winston, a self-proclaimed bagel enthusiast who was deeply affected by the closure of her favorite New York bagel shop, H&H Bagels. Growing up in suburban New Jersey, Emily's father would take her to H&H for a special treat, and she fell in love with the unique deliciousness of their bagels. When she heard that H&H had been shut down, she was determined to keep their legacy alive by creating her own recipe that would rival the original.

After five years of trial and error, Emily finally developed a recipe that she was proud of. When asked about the secret to creating the perfect New York-style bagel on the West Coast, Emily's answer was simple: "The secret is in the love." She believes that it's not the water that makes a great bagel, but the care and attention put into the recipe development. She even compared the process of creating her recipe to wine tasting, a testament to her passion for the craft. With Boichik Bagels, Emily is bringing a piece of New York to the Bay Area, one bagel at a time.
