are inspired by fatayer (fa-TAHY-er), the handmade savory turnovers, staples at the Arab street-corner bakeries that inspired the birth of Reem's California. Their cheese & nigella fatayer are hand-shaped from our signature naturally leavened vegan sourdough and filled with Akkawi salt-brined cheese and the herbaceous black seeds of the nigella flower. Reem's Cheese & Nigella Fatayer can be enjoyed solo as a quick breakfast or snack, or can be part of a larger mezze spread of small shared plates such as dips and salads. Arrives frozen. Ingredients: bread (bakers special flour (unbleached white flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid, enzymes), water, starter, canola oil, yeast), akkawi cheese (pasteurized grade a whole milk, calcium, vinegar, titanium dioxide, natural flavor, cultures, salt, non-animal kosher rennet), semolina, nigella seeds, olive oil.

So very savory and cheesy

These were amazing. I am a huge fan of Reem’s in SF, and it’s a pleasure to be able to eat these at home at any time - and hot out of the oven. Tasted even better than the last time I got a fatayer from the Reem’s stand in the Ferry Building.

Yum cheese boat

Baking these at home is actually better than getting them at the Ferry Building stand. They come out the oven hot and bubbly. A little salty but I love them. Nigella is fragrant
